Why gym merch works

Gym merch has a built-in reason to be worn: members are coming to train anyway. A shirt from their gym also says something they are proud of — that they keep showing up.

That makes milestones and challenges the best merch a gym can sell. “100 classes” on a shirt means more to the person who did them than any logo.

Members in your gear are also seen constantly: on runs, at the coffee shop, in class photos that get shared. Every one is a recommendation.

Ideas to start with

  • Training tanks and tees

Light, clean prints on fabric people actually want to sweat in.

  • The coach’s catchphrase

The line your coaches shout every class, in big type. Members will recognize it instantly.

  • Milestone shirts

“100 classes”, “1 year”. Share the link only with members who hit it.

  • Challenge shirts

Finish the 30-day challenge, unlock the shirt. A reason to buy and a reason to finish.

  • A water bottle

Used every session and seen by everyone in the room.

How to sell it

  1. 1Coaches wear the merch every class.
  2. 2Put a QR code at the front desk and on the whiteboard.
  3. 3Launch with a challenge, and give finishers the link to the challenge shirt.
  4. 4Share class photos with members in the merch (with their permission).

Questions gyms ask

Tanks or tees for gym merch?
Depends on your members and climate. Start with one of each and check which sells after a month; your dashboard shows best sellers.
Can I limit a shirt to members who earn it?
The simplest way is to share that product’s link only with members who hit the milestone. Most gyms find the honor system works.
Do coaches get merch at cost?
You can order one of each product as a test at cost, with no fee. For more, order through your shop like any customer; your share of the sale comes back to you.
